not so dinolicious

One of those mornings: good night's sleep, it didn't get too cold overnight, sit down to breakfast, break open the fishwrap and hey, my monument is on the front page...for all the wrong reasons.
Two things about the article: 1) I wish our superintendent would have the guts to just come out and say "Yes, these are important positions and it sucks that our budget isn't keeping up so we can keep them - but what can we do when we're getting screwed by the feds and Congress?" It reminds me of a line from the diary of Carlotta Monterey, wife of Eugene O'Neill, about a presidential speech they heard. I forget the exact wording, but it was something like, he's a great president and he's playing the game well - but if he were a great *man* he would rise above all that crap.
2) The article really makes it sound like the Quarry is closed for budgetary reasons. Umm, hello, it's closed because the building is on unstable ground and could collapse. I've been in there once in five months. Everyone must wear a hardhat when in there. It's staying closed so long because federal wheels move at a geologic pace.
